Admission process starts immediately after the publication of Higher Secondary examination results of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Admission process is followed by the Regulations and norms as laid down by the Gour Banga University and College authorities.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :


A student may be admitted to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Three Years Degree Course (General/Honours) after passing the Higher Secondary Examination in the general stream conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in (10+2) pattern after a period of 12 years study or a examination recognized as equivalent by the University provided he/she has passed in at least five subjects with English and Environmental Studies as compulsory subjects. In case of other Boards wherein Environmental Studies is not a compulsory subject, the student shall have to pass in at least five subjects with English as a compulsory subject.

1) General Course : Subject to the eligibility criteria, the merit lists for the General Courses will be prepared on the basis of Grand Total of best five subjects including English but excluding Environmental Studies.

2) Honours Course :
Those candidates who would obtain either (i) 45% marks in the Grand Total or (ii) 40% in the Grand Total with 50% marks in the subject in the qualifying examination shall be eligible to apply for admission to Honours course in the subject concerned. Admission to a course shall be subject to availability of seats and based on Merit.

           
Provided that for SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks for this eligibility shall be (i) 40% marks in the Grand total or (ii) 35% in the Grand Total with 50% in the subject for admission to Honours course in the subject concerned.

(i) In the Matter of eligibility to apply for admission to Honours courses 44.5% marks or above shall be treated as 45% marks and 49.5% marks or above shall be treated as 50%.

(ii) Subject to the eligibility criteria, the merit lists for the Honours courses will be prepared as

HOW TO APPLY :

1)Prescribed Application forms are available from the College Office on production of original mark-sheet. Properly filled-in application form must be submitted to the College Office within the scheduled date and time as per notification.

Subject (opted for Honours) + Grand Total (best 5 including Eng, excluding Env Stud)

(iii) In case any candidate opted for an Honours beyond his subject combination at H.S. (10+2) Level, the merit lists for the Honours Courses will be prepared as :
0 (Zero) + Grand Total (best 6 including Eng, excluding Env Stud)

Special Instruction :

(i) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Physics if he/she has passed in Mathematics and Physics at the qualifying Examination.

(ii) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Botany if he/she has passed in Botany or Biology at the qualifying Examination.

(iii) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Zoology if he/she passed in Zoology or Biology at the qualifying Examination.

(iv) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Computer Science as Honours subject if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the qualifying Examination.

(v) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Geography if he/she has passed in Geography at the qualifying examination.

(vi) A candidate shall be allowed to take up Economics as Honours subject if he/she has passed in Mathematics or Business Economics including Business Mathematics at the qualifying Examination.

(vii) No student other than those of Science stream shall be allowed to take science subjects as elective in General course.    

(viii) No student of Honours category other than those of Economics shall be allowed to take science subjects as elective in general courses.

(ix) A candidate shall be allowed to prosecute B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. in general course if he/she has passed the qualifying examinations in Vocational stream subject.

(x) No candidate shall be allowed to take up more than one of the following as elective subject. If a candidate choose any one of the following as Honours subject, he/she will not be allowed to take-up any one of the following as elective subject.

(i) English(ii) Bengali(iii) Hindi(iv) Sanskrit 

Other eligibility conditions are as per Gour Banga University Regulations relating to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. Three Years (Honours & General) Courses.
